Freddie Roberts

MSc Physiotherapy

BSc Nutrition, Exercise and Health

Freddie has an undergraduate degree in Nutrition, Exercise and Health from the University of Plymouth and a Master’s degree in Physiotherapy from the University of Southampton. He spent several years working in hospitals and clinics in the United Kingdom and then moved to New Zealand to focus his practice on sports injury rehab.

He is now based back in England, and works exclusively online with clients experiencing a variety of sports injuries and other musculoskeletal issues. Freddie’s clients include people of all activity levels, from weekend warriors to elite athletes returning to sports such as martial arts, running, and CrossFit.

Freddie has extensive experience in helping his patients manage issues such as running-related injuries, contact sport injuries, Achilles injuries, including ruptures and tendinopathies, and knee and hip replacements. He advises on all stages of injury management, including prehab and preparation for surgery, post-op guidance, long term rehab, and returning to sport.

He is a qualified personal trainer and works with his clients to optimise their lifestyle and training strategies to reduce risk of injury and enhance performance. With a background in multidisciplinary musculoskeletal services, he is experienced in collaborating with other medical professionals, such as rheumatologists, surgeons, and sports coaches to achieve the best outcome for his clients.

Freddie’s own sporting interests:

Freddie is a lifelong sportsman who has competed in several types of martial art, including MMA and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. When not on the mats, Freddie can be found lifting weights, trying to improve his yoga, or hitting the trails.

He spent much of 2024 in Canada, running and hiking on the trails around Vancouver and the Canadian Rockies (including weekly scrambles up the notorious Grouse Grind and frequent multi-day backpacking trips). Freddie has completed several road and trail running events up to marathon distances and is currently training for his first ultramarathon.

Freddie’s interest in physiotherapy stemmed from his own experience in rehabbing sports injuries, and the difference a good physio can make on returning to sport.

With regards to providing online physio treatment, Freddie says:

“Online rehab provides flexibility and improved access to getting a timely and accurate diagnosis, helping you understand what has contributed to the injury, and ensuring there is a clear plan. This could be a sporting goal, or simply being able to do your usual activities.

"We can often make progress in other aspects of your training whilst working on the issue at hand, and this is where my background in exercise science and personal training is helpful.”
